One of the major causes of chronic diseases in the modern western world is lack of physical activities in combination with unhealthy nutrition patterns. In order for people to develop a healthier lifestyle, one of the first steps is to analyse their current activity patterns; both based upon real data as well as on their own perception of their physical activity patterns. These analyses are already done many times for nutrition patterns (phenomenon Secret Eating) but there is little amount of data about the (perceived) physical activity level.
Within this research project the research question ‘Are Dutch adults from the age of 25 till 35 aware of their physical activity level?’ is investigated. The eventual results indicate that within the qualitative data there are found differences in resolution for different activities. Where there is a big difference within the quantitative data and small differences within the qualitative data for specific activities like walking during work or within the house. This resembles a difference in awareness during different activities (walking during work vs. sporting).
